Service Assistant

Position Summary

Service Assistants play a vital role in supporting our commodity trading operations. This position works closely with traders, freight coordinators, customers, suppliers, and carriers to ensure contracts are processed accurately, shipments move efficiently, and customers receive exceptional service.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process commodity purchase and sales contracts.

  • Enter and maintain accurate trade information within company systems.

  • Assist with coordinating shipments and monitoring delivery schedules.

  • Communicate with customers, suppliers, warehouses, and transportation providers.

  • Maintain contract files and supporting documentation.

  • Review invoices, freight bills, scale tickets, and other transaction documents for accuracy.

  • Assist with inventory tracking and contract fulfillment.

  • Resolve documentation discrepancies and communicate updates to the appropriate parties.

  • Provide administrative support to the trading and logistics teams.

  • Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required.

Freight Coordinator

Position Summary

Freight Coordinators are responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring the transportation of agricultural commodities from origin to destination. Working closely with traders, customers, suppliers, warehouses, and transportation providers, this individual ensures shipments are executed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving logistical challenges, and can effectively manage multiple shipments simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the transportation of agricultural commodities by truck, rail, and other transportation modes.

  • Schedule pickups and deliveries with customers, suppliers, warehouses, and carriers.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with trucking companies, freight brokers, and logistics partners.

  • Monitor shipments and proactively address delays, scheduling conflicts, or transportation issues.

  • Work closely with commodity traders to ensure contracts are executed efficiently.

  • Verify shipping documentation, bills of lading, freight invoices, and delivery receipts.

  • Maintain accurate transportation records and shipment tracking information.

  • Communicate shipment updates to customers and internal team members.

  • Assist in negotiating freight rates and identifying cost-saving opportunities.

  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and applicable transportation regulations.

  • Help resolve freight claims, shortages, and delivery discrepancies.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required.

  • Experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, agriculture, or commodity merchandising is preferred.

Commodity Trader

Position Summary

Commodity Traders are responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and marketing agricultural commodities while developing long-term relationships with customers and suppliers. This role combines market analysis, business development, negotiation, and strategic decision-making to identify opportunities, manage risk, and execute profitable transactions.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, competitive, and relationship-focused, with excellent communication skills and a passion for markets and agriculture.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with producers, suppliers, customers, processors, and industry partners.

  • Identify opportunities to buy and sell agricultural commodities in domestic and international markets.

  • Negotiate purchase and sales agreements while maximizing profitability and maintaining customer satisfaction.

  • Monitor commodity markets, supply and demand trends, freight costs, weather conditions, and other factors affecting pricing and availability.

  • Analyze market data to identify trading opportunities and manage market risk.

  • Coordinate with Freight Coordinators and Service Assistants to ensure timely and accurate contract execution.

  • Prepare and negotiate purchase and sales contracts.

  • Resolve contract issues and maintain strong customer relationships throughout each transaction.

  • Expand the company's customer base through business development and networking.

  • Represent the company with professionalism, integrity, and exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Business, Economics, Finance, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred, but not required.

  • Experience in commodity merchandising, agricultural sales, grain merchandising, commodity trading, or business development is preferred.

  • Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to make informed decisions in a fast-paced, market-driven environment.

  • Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

  • Willingness to travel periodically to visit customers, suppliers, and industry events.
