Community

LPC brings varied perspectives but shares a commitment to purposeful work and real connection. The company supports communities through sponsorships, donations, and scholarships: sponsoring local events and nonprofits to boost civic and cultural engagement, and offering scholarships to help students pursue higher education. Below are some of our past and current projects.

LPC/Murchie Family Fieldhouse

The Murchie Family Fieldhouse, located at the University at Buffalo, is a 92,000 square feet facility for year-round training. It houses a full-size turf football field, 6,000 feet of rubber sprinting tracks, a triple jump pit, a pole vaulting pit and motorized suspended softball hitting tunnels.  It also contains two mulit-level indoor filming/viewing towers. The facility will house university events, expanded student recreation programming and intramurals. With the addition of this fieldhouse, UB is among 10 other Mid-American Conference schools that have such a facility in the 12-member conference.

LPC/Murchie-Mulla Sports Performance Center

The Brittany Murchie Mulla Sports Performance Center, located at the University at Buffalo, is a 12,000-square-foot, multilevel facility - serves all student-athletes on UB's 16 varsity teams. The state-of-the art facility enables student-athletes to compete at their peak.

Ed Wright Practice Facility

Officially opened during Phase II of the Arena in 1985, the facility measures approximately 22,000 square feet and contains three full courts, including a simulated game court, that are utilized by both basketball teams and the volleyball team. It is also used by recreation and intramurals as well as class instruction.

The facility was renovated in the summer of 2009 and received another upgrade in the summer of 2019 when the floor was resurfaced and redesigned with an updated “Bull head” logo at center court, new padding was added to the exterior walls as well as the addition of several banners along the back wall of the facility, highlighting memorable men’s and women’s basketball moments, and a Buffalo Volleyball banner on the far right wall of the facility.

In 2010, the practice gym was renamed the Ed Wright Practice Facility in his honor.

Coming Soon: The Murchie Shore Data Theater

University at Buffalo’s School of Management will soon be home to a fully equipped high-tech data analysis lab. Located on the second floor of the Alfiero Center, the facility will provide a space uniquely designed for collaborative data analysis.

Available to all disciplines within the school, the data theater will feature flexible configurations, large screens and state-of-the-art hardware and software, enabling users to interact with and make sense of complex information for the purpose of research, teaching, simulations, immersive visualization and decision-making.

Women’s Athletics

In 2020, longtime UB Athletics supporter Tunney Murchie generously donated $100,000 to the Buffalo women's basketball program to help fund their summer foreign tour to Spain. This most recent gift by the Murchie family is the single largest gift ever made to the Buffalo women's basketball program.
